It’s Mother’s Day! First, let me take a second to wish your moms a happy and joyful life, and give them the credit of turning us into what we have become today.
Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs… since the payment is pure love. ~Mildred B. Vermont
Normally I get to write about business cases that I get to live and experience throughout my career. But today, I’ll be going in a slightly different approach.
My mother is a walking miracle. ~ Leonardo DiCaprio
♥ We know them as Mom, Mum, Mommy, Ma, Mother, etc.
♥ We know they took care of us from the 1st day we were being created in their womb.
♥ We know that they bared 9 month of weight gain, hormones, back-aches, nausea, cravings, and stretch marks to deliver us healthy and in good shape into this world.
♥ We know they were always there when we cried, laughed, took our first step, got our first tooth, spilled our first bottle of milk, and hurt ourselves playing.
♥ We know they wake up early to prepare us breakfast and a lunch bag to take to school.
♥ We know they never had a minute of sleep when we were ill and had high fever for several days.
♥ We know they helped us understand our school material we got to learn to help create a better tomorrow.
♥ We know they were excited to see us experiencing love at first sight.
♥ We know they had hard time explaining to us puberty yet took on the challenge.
♥ We know they took too much heat from us when we experienced the rebellious age of adolescence.
♥ We know they were there for our graduation ruining their make-up with what they called “tears of happiness”.
♥ We know they looked at us with pride when we were getting married and starting our own family.
♥ We know they are always there to help with the kids and take care of them while we as a couple are off to work all day.
♥ We know they still cook for us our favorite meals even if it means standing half a day at the stove.
♥ We know they love the gesture of us visiting them even with our “busy” schedule.
♥ We know they count till 10 before asking us for anything because they don’t feel like burdening us.
♥ We know that they will always look at us as their little one no matter how old we get.
We know a lot….
We know that we have this day to appreciate their efforts.
If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands? ~ Milton Berle
But, what we don’t know is…..
✔ MoM is a full time job
✔ MoM works for free
✔ MoM never puts her own interest as a priority
✔ MoM is always alert and on standby for help
✔ MoM is the backbone of the family
✔ MoM is responsible for keeping you, your brother(s)/sister(s), and her husband “happy”, even at her own personal expense
✔ MoM is in a constant challenge of discovering new recipes and improving to keep you enjoying her food
✔ MoM endures physical and mental pain without making us feel other than “life is as happy as it gets”
✔ MoM is the person who handles and listens to all problems from all of us, our siblings, and her husband, all in one place
What did I learn? (In business terms! can’t help it!)
Becoming an Life Entrepreneur, for a lifetime, with no return, and always putting others as a priority over herself, and getting 1 day in a year to be recognized is a hard unrealistic fact.
As much as we work in our lives to become the change in the world, know that your mother took on this challenge single-handed and decided to become the hidden icon of change in your life that got you to where you are today.
My mother’s wonderful. To me she’s perfection. ~ Michael Jackson
For every mother in this world, we love you, and we will never be able to repay you for all the efforts you had put to make us who we are today.
Happy Mother’s Day!
